FAQ
Q: What is a Wordy Plate? A rescued, pre-loved plate with a brand new attitude. We upcycle vintage dishes, each one hand-selected and laser engraved with a cheeky phrase, giving them a second life as sustainable wall art. No two are exactly alike.
Heads up: These plates are for display only and are not food safe.
Q: Why can't I eat off a Wordy Plate? These plates are pre-loved and upcycled, and the engraving and paint process is not suitable for direct food contact. They are made to hang on your wall and make people smile, not to hold your snacks.
Q: How do I clean a Wordy Plate? Wipe gently with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners or submerging in water, as either can damage the design. It's art, not a dish.
Q: Can I do local pickup? Yes. We're based in Vancouver, Washington and happy to coordinate a handoff that skips the shipping. Just send us a message before you order so we can work out the details.
Q: What is your shipping policy? We ship all orders within 5 business days of purchase. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. We pack every plate carefully to make sure it arrives safely.
Q: What is your return policy? All sales are final. Because each plate is one of a kind and vintage, we can't accept returns. That said, if your plate arrives damaged, contact us right away and we will make it right.
Q: What about chips, cracks, or imperfections? These plates have already lived a life before they got to us, and sometimes it shows. A faint scratch, a small chip on the rim, a hairline crack that's been there since who knows when. We inspect every plate before it goes anywhere, and anything with damage that affects the integrity of the piece gets pulled. But minor signs of age? Those stay. They are part of the history, part of the charm, and part of what makes each one genuinely one of a kind. If you appreciate a little character, you're in the right place.
Q: Are your plates carried in stores? Yes! You can find us at these fine establishments:
Kindred Vancouver, 606 Main St, Vancouver, WA @kindredvancouver
We Are Doll Parts, 4832 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA @we.are.doll.parts
Pop in, browse around, and snag a plate in person. Tag us if you do.
Q: Where else can you find us? We show up regularly at craft and art markets throughout the Portland and Seattle areas. We are members of the Portland Saturday Market and pop up there at least once a month from spring through the holidays. In Seattle, we participate in Urban Craft Uprising events. Follow us on Instagram for new plate drops, upcoming market dates, and the occasional behind the scenes chaos. New plates move fast.
Q: Do you do custom orders? Yes. We have made custom plates for birthdays, housewarmings, memorials, weddings, and a few requests we never saw coming. If you have a phrase, a person, or a moment in mind, send us a message. We love a good challenge and we're pretty good at it.
Q: Do you sell wholesale? Not yet, but we're open to the conversation. If you think our plates belong in your shop, reach out.
Q: Where do you find the plates? Estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, and donations. We search constantly for vintage pieces with character and potential. Every plate is handpicked.
Q: Do you accept plate donations? Yes, and thank you in advance. If you're in the Vancouver, Washington area and have pre-loved plates that deserve a second act, send us a message to coordinate a handoff.
Q: Where do your sayings come from? All over the place: trends, the internet, movies, books, TV, and plain old everyday life. If it's clever, snarky, or quietly true, it's probably going on a plate.
